The Inter-American Property Registry and Cadastre Network (RICRP) is an initiative of the American countries, supported by the Organization of American States (OAS), the World Bank (WB), and the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), which emerged in 2014 as a systematic horizontal technical cooperation mechanism.
The aim is to promote, multiply, strengthen, and streamline exchanges focused on developing, disseminating, and implementing best practices in Property Registry and Cadastre on the continent, as well as supporting institutional development processes at different levels of government.
The Annual Conference and Assembly of the Inter-American Property Registry and Cadastre Network (CONFCAT) is the most important annual event of the RICRP, which intends to contribute to the advancement of cadastral and registry systems, the establishment of land administration and management systems in the countries of the region.
The event brings together the highest authorities from the public and private sectors, as well as experts, civil society, and enthusiasts of property registry and cadastre.
This year, the 10th edition central theme is “Registration and Cadastre to democratize access to land”. The goal is fostering dialogue and exchange of good practices among regional authorities about the relevance of property cadastre and registration for the democratization of land access. The aim is to improve the interface with society, acting as control mechanisms in the face of climate change and environmental degradation.
#Confcat24 seeks to create space for reflection and so rethinking about rights and access to land in collective areas, social groups in situations of territorial vulnerability, indigenous populations, quilombolas, peasants and other traditional peoples and communities.
